A little inspiration

Things have been insanely hectic lately ... nothin like those 10 hour days on campus. *eye roll* Ever have those days? Remember this lil saying:

Ain't no mountain high enough ... ain't no river wide enough

Beachy Goodness

Ever wish you could smell like the beach for the whole day?

That's what my labour day weekend consisted of ... tanning and relaxin at Wasaga.

Impersonal Technology

Ever get the feeling that no one wants to communicate in the world anymore?

I've been trying to get a hold of the insurance guy so I can finally get my car fixed before classes start again next week. All I keep getting is his voicemail and unreturned messages that I've left regarding the situation.

Then I thought ... in a customer service related business such as insurance claims ... this sure is an impersonal way
to keep in contact with customers. How many people are on voicemail these days? Seems like every business/company uses some sort of voicemail or the infamous 'press the #' method for customer service. Whatever happened to personalized attention/conversations? Call me crazy but I prefer a simple hello anyday.

Here Comes The Bride

I had the honour of attending the wedding of one of my friends from the college. My friend, the bride, was of course lovely in her wedding dress. It was also nice seeing a few people from my classes as well. I'm sure we'll have a blast taking over the campus paper come September.

Looking around during the dinner reception, the magnitude of the commitment that Melanie has made really dawned on me when I saw all the other couples together at their tables. Then I realized another thing .... while we're still technically "students" and perhaps finding our way in the world .... at the same time, we're also already full fledged contributing members of society ... getting ready to live the 9 - 5 kinda life that defines who we are.

Here is one friend getting married, another having a baby, and more moving out on their own or with their companions facing life on their own.

It's like realizing that the last ounce of innocence and security and perhaps, naivity, you can hang on to as student begins to dissipate and returns to that cycle waiting for the next soon-to-be college student to take, so that in a few years, he or she can realize the same thing I have. LoL. :)

And then I thought ... what will my 9 - 5 kinda life be like in a few years? Melanie's will definitely involve her husband. Rosalind will have her child. What will yours involve? Think about it and let me know! :)

Name My Car!!

So all through my car ordeal (finding the perpetrators, dealing with the insurance company, finding a place to fix the damage), I've noticed that I don't have a name for my car. And to me, that's just wrong, lol. So I'm officially announcing the Name My Car contest.

My car pretty much looks like the one in the picture, except mine is navy blue. Characteristics? Well, it likes to travel ... it smells nice inside ... and has been known to give a lift or two to friends in need. Think you've got a great name? Submit your suggestion simply by responding to this message :)

The winner will be announced when I've got enough names to choose from, haha. Prize? Well, I haven't thought of any, but how about my respect and gratitude forever and ever?
